1. We act on behalf of our client Mr Mashabela Mpho.
2. It is our instructions that on or about the 16th of June 2020, you falsely and unlawfully issued and published a media statement in which statement you made allegations, inter alia, that Mr Mashabela Mpho abuses his wife spiritually, emotionally and financially.
3. The allegations that you made on the said media statement are false, unfounded and therefore defamatory in their nature.
4. The media statement in question was published on several number of public platforms including your Facebook blog (Conty Lebepe Blog) on the 21st of June 2020, which at the time had over 18 000 followers. You knew that such false allegations would be viewed by a large number of people by considering our client’s public status and profile.
5. On the 22nd of October 2020 our client obtained a Final Protection Order restraining you from posting any social media content relating to our client and referring to our client as an abuser. To date the above mentioned media statement remains published on your Facebook account and continues to cause harm to our client.
6. Due to your false and defamatory media statement our client was publicly interviewed by big media houses which interviews have led to our client suffering emotionally and financially, as a family man and public figure.
7. It is our instruction that you immediately issue and publish an apology statement retracting the media statement that you issued on the 16th of June 2020 and publishing same apology on your personal Facebook profile, Instagram profile and Twitter profile. This to be done on or before13:00 Monday the 30th of May 2022.
8. It is further our instruction that due to the financial harm that your false accusations and defamatory statements have caused to our client, that we demand from you, payment in the sum of R1 500 000.00 (One Million Five Hundred Thousand Rand) with 30 days of receiving this letter. Should yoou fail or neglect to make the said payment, we have instruction to institute a civil legal action against you shall be liable for costs thereof.
